Angelo Villari - Altidòr

Born in Messina (Sicily), Angelo Villari graduated in singing at the A. Boito conservatoire in Parma, where he also furthered his studies at the Arturo Toscanini Foundation under the guidance of Alain Charles Billard. At the biginning of his career he sang Galuppi’s Il filosofo di campagna, Mozart’s L’oca del Cairo, Donizetti’s Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali and Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto. In 2007 he sang in Verdi’s Luisa Miller under the baton of Donato Renzetti at the Festival Verdi in Parma, and at the Teatro Regio, where he also took part in the Scenes from Goethe’s Faust, Il Corsaro and Lucia di Lammermoor. Active also on the concert side, he performed in Verdi’s Requiem and in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.

Angelo Villari won the first prize at the International Contest “Simone Alaimo, il Bel Canto” (2010)  and he was finalist at the Lyric Contest Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and he won the role of Il Duca of Mantua in Rigoletto in the Contest “Il Bel canto nella Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento (Sicily). Amongst the roles he sang, it is worth mentioning: Canio in Pagliacci, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Cavaradossi in Tosca and  Alfredo in Traviata. <

Angelo Villari recently performed: Cavalleria Rusticana in Lecce, Pagliacci in Malta, Attila (Foresto) in Rovereto. Among his most important successes in the past season, it is worth mentioning: Il Trovatore at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Madama Butterfly in Lübeck, La Traviata in Malta and the main role in Ennio Porrino’s I Shardana at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, conducted by Anthony Bramall in a new production by Davide Livermore (also filmed in DVD by Dynamic).

Among his future projects, it is worth mentioning: Leoncavallo’s Zingari at the Leoncavallo Festival in Montalto Uffugo and Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro Sociale in Como, at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia and at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona.
